THE E MESS AND BOY WHAT

A MESS ITS BEEN THIS WEEK!!!!!!

Sorry Mat The Pictures Buggered It Up -----------

ISSUE NUMBER SIXTEEN COMMENCING SOMETIME BEGINNING OF OCTOBER 2001

The Silly Season is probably over however the residents of this village have been adversely affected by it and not yet got mentally out of it!!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK There is a slight change this week in as much as you have to guess who said what about whom - "I think she thinks I am her friend"

PROGRESS ON ANN AND MARKS HOUSE Its gone!!!! Yes the pole has finally been shifted - and today there is a special trip Sue, Ann and the Cocktail Queen are going up the mountain to view the house and then onto Piperia for lunch.

Its birthday week this week, Len had a party at Porfira on Tuesday night [and he does not look a day older!!! It has to said that Fred has aged considerably though!!!!!!] - the 4th October is, I think, Michele's birthday and on Saturday its Sue's.

Generous offerings - Ann upon inquiring about the plans for Sue's birthday, offered to do the Villea welcome meeting - now that’s a kindness, especially at this time of the years. If there is to be a party it would probably be the PARTY FROM HELL since half of the prospective guests would either a] refuse to come cos someone else was coming or b] come and glare at each other across the table!!!

CRETA WAGGED HER TAIL Its Cretas birthday next week and what she really wants is a cat - preferably Mittens the Villea mouser. Mittens actually caught her first mouse last week, everyone was very proud of her.

Apparently Mikle the Fisherman Jacks designer is arriving next Tuesday - this info is second hand so you can never tell.

Thanks go to Mat who took a bunch of digital pictures which will soon appear on the Villea website and I bet on Mats Gallery at explorecrete.com

Whilst the O'Clocks were in residence I asked them if they would like to contribute to the mess - to give another perspective to life in Mac. - I hope you all enjoy the following as much as I did - Thanks Grandfather Clock!!!

The O'Clock Perspective

"The Makrigialos (S)mile" This week we are launching a mini Markris competition. Entry is free to all subscribers of the Emess. All you have to do is walk the Makris "mile" and collect as many smiles as you can coax from the many shops, bars and restaurants on your way. For a every welcoming cheery smile you collect 5 points. The first one to 15 is our winner. Validation of each successful jolly smile has of course to be captured on photo (video evidence will qualify) Starting point Villea Village going west towards the port. There are a number of stiff challenges along the way starting in the bakery with the formidable Mrs Dough the bakers wife (no points there I'm afraid). Along past Hannis where on a good day you might collect some points but not today sorry. Ambling wearily along the shiny tarmac we approach on the right the fruit market where you may think the challenge is stiffest. But no, there is worse to come, cos no points allowed for a "grunt". Undaunted we travel on passing the motor plan where an icy stare awaits you and on to the mini market. Here there are bonus points to be won, 3 extra points if Mr Mini is on duty and 5 extra if Mrs Mini is there to "greet" you. Still no points oh dear but we move on. (no before we move on just offer d10,000 it wont get you any points but there is some satisfaction .) Across the street there is the pottery man is this a smile? (no just flatulence!) On the left however there are points more easily gained. At Porfira Lens smile is almost constant, sorry you cannot pick up 5 points here, too easy. This popular Greek style eating house boasts a very attractive bonus "Kasha" who puts a whole new meaning to "stiffado". Moving very swiftly on 5 points to be picked up at

Hawaii where the brother "Hang Out". Somewhere a little further on there is a very jolly lady in a little Cava but points deducted here cos these smiling greetings are raki induced (allegedly!) On to the cake shop lovely pastries, wonderful ices but not a smile to be collected here. It is getting easier now as we approach the restaurants and "Splash" 10 points available on this stretch. Our happy little journey ends at the Shell Garage but definitely no points here. Any one collecting the maximum 15 points please send their entries to the editor whose judgment is final. Good luck and keep smiling Mr O'clock

FISH Its quite amazing we still have two!!!!

FISHERMAN JACKS. Last week the temperature soared it was thirty seven degrees on the bar! Incredible that at the end of September we are still flinging ourselves in the pool to cool off.

BIG MAC INDEX Sandra and Gary did an airport run last Friday and Big Macs were promised sadly they got lost in Mallia and no Big Macs - The following morning Daniela came bounding in to Villea and upon discovering no Big Macs - it did look as if murder would be committed!! Vassilis is in Thessalonika so we hope for Big Macs next weekend.

People keep asking where Tony is?

Thanks for photos to Michele in London Leslie in Switzerland and Steve in California- very international readership this missive
