The E MESS – "Your Makrigialos Fix"
Quote from Matt "it’s a state of mind"
(issue no 18 - Sometime
Mid-November)
Loads of rain this week. Standing on the Villea pool terrace watching the storm clouds whack down the gorge and the electricity pylons flashing like crazy - how
the power stayed on is quite amazing. The down side of the storms is no fishing
- poor Vassilis.
Everywhere
is getting green again, the birds are twittering like
crazy, they think its spring. The olive trees look green again and the olives
are turning black.
The
weather is hot and sunny again [ as in lie by the pool
in a bikini sunny ] eat you hearts out in rainy old wherever - or is it sunny
in
Olive
picking will start soon as the trees are now psychologically ready to drop
their olives!!!!
Its still Kazanema time which means we all have to go out nearly every afternoon or evening and drink warm freshly distilled raki - I am sure you all feel sorry
for
the residents of Mak.
Vassilis had his first Kazanema in the commercial sense last week, at the Kazanema by Magatzes - fantastic view great sunset - great food, company and
raki - we got Vassilis a cake baked by Mary and should have been iced by Len however it was done by the bakers wife with "My first Kazanema" on it and
was surrounded by four white blobs that looked like bird poo. We had no candles so a glass of raki was placed upon the cake and set alight - the Paparazzi
missed the photo
so we did it again this time setting the cake ablaze!!!! Yes we are having
pictures this week - there could be a page 2!

TRAVEL ADVISORY QUOTES OF THE WEEK[S] Len after a night at
Alekos Kazanema in Chrissopiggi "donkey saddle, What
donkey saddle?
Yesterday Lens new boat arrived - it should be called boat number three as he has sunk the previous 2 - however, if you were paying attention to last
weeks
issue you will note that Len's book is now to be called "its not my fault…".
The nights are a bit cooler now so we are lighting the fireplace at Villea and of course playing pool and darts. Ann and Mark were sitting at the bar doing
"dart renovation" did you ever see anyone have a Domestic over a
dart shaft!!!!!
Mittens the Villea Mouser had a fight the other week and ended up limping with a swollen paw - great concern expressed by all. Mittens however is now back
in
good health!!
You all missed a treat last week, it was the Panagiri [fiesta] of St George the Drunkard!!! Bet you all didn't know there was a patron saint of drunkards - only
in this magical part of
guests pick on a person sing pato pato at them and the person indicated has to drink the drink they have in their hand down in one - well for a change it
was raki….. The whole crowd is yelling that persons name and singing pato pato - that means empty/bottom. Vassilis got caught with a large plastic cup of
raki and had to down it.
PROGRESS ON ANN AND MARKS HOUSE. The completion date is mid January - do we have to open Villea early to accommodate you all??????? Please
note one of the builders is really a circus magician.
FISHERMAN JACKS. - This has now moved to Villea Lobby and has been busy for the last week - so busy that the look of surprise on some of the customers
faces was a treat to behold - remember only two
cars an hour seem to travel through the village.
BIG MAC INDEX. Thanks
Len and Fred [yes she's back.] for the surprise Big Macs the other day
We had a wedding party staying at Villea this week what a smashing crowd. The bride and groom left from here separately!!! Bev the bride looked stunning
and we hope they will send us some piccies that they took by the fireplace it all looked very romantic. The car was decorated in Greek style with flowers
on
the bonnet. On the way to Koutsouras where the wedding was held in true Cretan style
everyone honked their horns like crazy.
The Groom Steve and the bestman are musicians so we had great evening by the fireplace with guitars, bongos, tambourines, thanks to Hanes, Ariana,
Len
and Jianni Receptionist for playing. Sorry to Ron
and Margaret who did not get much sleep.
Thanks this week go to Mark for taking and attaching [I hope] the pictures. If you do not know Mark you can find a picture of him asleep on a park bench
in the harbour in issue number 16.
Pictures
Vassilis shows us a cake made out of Raki and Bird Poo. The reporter in the background is keeping it at arms
length.
Ron has trouble with his new dentures. The
local dentist also owns a lot of pigs. What can you get for 10 drachmas?
Len playing the ass. Alkis eyes up the
moisturising cream. Make up your own explanations.
Sue (your editor,) caught unaware by the
paparazzi at the Kazenema.
