The E MESS – "Your Makrigialos Fix"
Quote from Matt "it’s a state of mind"
ISSUE NUMBER EIGHT– WEEK COMMENCING
|
The Messenger has
been suspended due to pressure from various taverna owners in the Village -
WOW its amazing what a lot of fuss the little old Messenger [deceased]
caused. For the next few weeks therefore you will receive the e mess and a
listing of what's happening at Villea. After
this week I will try to expand the e mess to cover the other bits that were
covered by the Messenger! A quote
I heard a few weeks ago is brought to mind "there are some negatives
about living in a village" Arrivals
- Mark arrived to inspect the land and, I think, would prefer to be here on a
permanent basis. Just arrived today is Jason - that gives Gary[
Porfira] - whose birthday it is tomorrow a pal to
celebrate with!! I will
show Another
arrival today is Lens boat!! This report came from Vassilis
who was, surprise surprise down at the harbour
buying fish. Glad to report Vassilis, as we go to
press [finally] is in Ziros buying wines from the Economou vineyards!! Fred
who came on a return ticket will, maybe,
use the return portion we will wait and see on that one. Mikle from Dennis
and Judith also arrived they are probably the longest serving Makrigialots!! On the
new road front I learned today from Mark that the new road from Ziros to Xerocampus is now open
- apparently it is a seriously windy road with 2,000 foot drops but worth the
drive - spectacular views. |
HOUSEKEEPING
HINTS - Sue to Margaret "I will try and keep my room
tidier in future" Margaret "Don't do that, you won't need me any
more" Best housekeeping hint in a while. THE
BIG MAC INDEX It was so close this week - Vassilis
arrived in Heraklion early this am however sadly MacDonalds don’t open till 11 am, woe is me and thrice
woe is me. CRETA
WAGGED HER TAIL Creta has an older man he is a
German Shepherd [very large] called Max who lives at Artemis/Eva. Max was
very interested in Cretas bottom, Creta was very interested in the orange rubber toy that
Max owned RESULTS
Daniela passed her blood test again so was able to participate to the full at
the Apotheke full moon party on Wednesday night. Ron
and Margaret's Wedding is still in abeyance however we are all optimists down
here [well, nearly all] and hope it will eventually come to fruition. Bet
everyone is waiting to know if the part for the ice machine arrived in Apotheke - it did they now have ice cubes - Vassilis is no longer to be seen cycling briskly for his
evening malt with a bag of ice cubes on the handle bars. We are
having the promised heatwave it must be 40 degrees
with very little breeze - but it sure beats |
THE
CULTURE SECTION The Makrigialos community is having a meeting on
Tuesday re frozen food in restaurants!! This
week nearly all the businesses in Mak were visited
by representatives of the Mak community selling
advertising space in the new annual Mak magazine…mmmmmmm The Koufonissi boat started last week and so far has gone
every day except for Friday - quite good going for this time of the year. FISH
- we have four fish left - Ann discovered a dead one stuck behind the
plastic palm tree in the tank - Wanda however lives on. Shortly after the
death the other fish started going black - is this fish mourning? Glad to
report that all fish are back to normal gold. New Makrigialots - welcome to John and Julie [ she with the
great ass] who are now back in New York or NYC as, they call it, and today
requested the e mess. New
terminology coined in the village by Sarah with an H - plonk is now referred
to as waitress wine!!! GREEK
IN 35 YEARS first we have grafio - office, thoulevo - I work, a little bit of grammar if you put
then before a verb it becomes negative thus then thoulevo
means I do not work! to stilo
- the pen. Computeraki - calculator, Immerologio - calendar. Aftokineto
- car - amoleevi benzeni
- lead free petrol. Perhaps this gives you a clue as to what everyone is
doing this week!!! The
petrol station in Mak has been extended there is
now a shade over the pumps which are new and situated to the side of the old
pumps. With
thanks to those who inspire, the e mess on either a
